Art + Soul: home.made

It's been said numerous times that Athens, although widely known for it's music scene, is quickly becoming even more well known for it's restaurant scene. One of my recently-discovered favorite spots in town is now home.made, located right on Baxter Street. Although I had known of the catering company for years, I had no idea they were serving lunch during the week until Hilary posted on Instagram.

Owner and chef Mimi Maumus is a true artist of divine southern food. After working for and studying under renowned chef Hugh Acheson at 5 & 10 she decided to find her own food identity and created home.made. Everything is fresh, local, seasonal and delicious. Their BLT with fried green tomatoes will make your heart sign and the pimento cheese straws are heaven in a bite. Seriously.

Have you been to home.made? I plan on taking my mother-in-law for lunch next week when she's in town. My hope is to have a client use them for catering in the future, but my plan in the meantime is to sign up for the next Supper Club! Who wants to join me?

  1. One of my clients used home.made and it was the best vendor meal that I've ever had! Huge pimento cheese sandwich with almonds, pickled okra, and cheese straws. Who cares about a hot vendor meal when that's your "boxed" lunch! It was divine.
