long time gone

Hello! I barely know where to begin in catching you up on life, but I will start by saying Jenna + Andrew's wedding this past weekend was absolutely stunning. I can't wait for the pictures to come in!

Taylor and I also celebrated our one year anniversary on Monday :) We both took the day off from work to enjoy time together without distractions. We even brought Chief for a walk around North Campus and I captured this sweet video:

the look of summer

Pinterest has been one of my favorite sites for over a year now and it truly makes organizing inspiration so easy & simple. I especially love pinning ideas for outfits this summer. Here are some looks I especially want to try:

Shorts are a summer-staple, but they can be hit or miss when it comes to length and fit. I love how versatile they can be- whether you're look is for a date night, day of sight-seeing, business casual, or my favorite: effortless tomboy.

Does Ashley Olsen ever get it wrong? I love the chic way she played up a simple black tank with a textured white skirt. I also love the shirt & skirt combo in the picture above. It's the perfect outfit for work that with a simple change a shoes can be a great look for grabbing a glass of wine with friends.

Speaking of shoes, one serious addition I need to make to my closet is a comfortable sandal wedge that is easily translates from day to night. Any suggestions?

wedding wednesday

Happy Wednesday! I didn't post an official Wedding Wednesday last week, but I hope you enjoyed Jenna's first and second bridal shower. Today I have a special post in mind from my sweet friend Erin.

Remember how she got engaged and then I started dreaming of her Austin wedding? Well plans could be changing because now she's thinking of an October wedding in Georgia! Besides being excited about her potential venue, I couldn't be more thrilled to be a part of her special day :)

Isn't this idea precious? I especially like the mini envelope and card. I love all the creative ways people ask, "Will you be my bridesmaid?".

love to paint

The last room in the house to be painted is our kitchen! We haven't picked out a color, but I am thinking of light blue so that all our yellow accents really pop! A kitchen should be cheery, don't you think?

more bedroom ideas

I hope everyone had a nice weekend! Taylor and I had a great time with my little sister and she was so helpful when it came to painting the living room. I thought it was going to be a beast of a project, but we actually finished all the painting in ONE day!

My hope is to actually have pictures posted this week of all the updates to our home. For now, I thought I'd share a few more lovely images of bright and fresh bedrooms.

Our bedroom is pretty much complete with the exception of installing our mirror and some picture frames. I'm especially liking the low bed in the second image and the tapestry in the third- what a cool way to add interest to a blank wall besides pictures or shelving.

more living room ideas

What better way to start off a Friday than to enjoy some living room inspiration?

Our new living room is basically the last room in the house to come together (or even be painted!) so I will be working on this Saturday when my little sister comes to town!

Of course I love the wicker seating below :)

Taylor and I are on the hunt for the perfect couch- especially a leather one! Wish us luck!

the second bridal shower

Jenna's second bridal shower, hosted by her bridesmaids in Athens, was truly a joy to help plan and attend! She shared a sweet moment with her mom when she first arrived and we went right into playing a fun game and eating the delicious food!

Since the bride-to-be is a vegetarian, we made sure to have filling snacks without meat- including mozzarella, tomato & basil sandwiches, pita chips & dips, and fruit kabobs.

Carly and Kathryn did a phenomenal job with the food spread- there was plenty left over which is always a good problem to have rather than run out :) Brittany and I took care of the decor and I think we captured their Maine-inpired theme as best we could!

I have to admit- being able to borrow decor from work is as fun as it sounds. But the most important part of the day was that everyone had a good time.

The munchkin above is Jenna's flower girl, Julie's daughter. Jenna's sister (and maid-of-honor) came up with a game where guests had to guess if a statement was said by the bride or groom in reference to the other. Emily was the perfect "game host", as usual.

Jenna's mom gave her a scrapbook for their first year of marriage and the cute table above! The bridesmaids also gave Jenna & Andrew their official wedding gift - a quilt from Pottery Barn. The Sunday shower was lovely and I'm so happy most of Jenna's bridesmaids were there to share in the special memory together!

 We love you, Jenna Noelle!

the first bridal shower

This past Saturday was Jenna's first bridal shower and it was so special. It was hosted by friends of Jenna's mother and they laid out quite a feast with all the bridal shower essentials - chocolate covered strawberries, quiches, chicken salad croissants and pink lemonade.

Jenna might not be your typical girly-girl, but I loved all the feminine touches and pink accents!

Besides sharing wisdom and thoughts for the newlyweds, guests were also able to enjoy two incredible scrapbooks Jenna made for Andrew for their past two anniversaries.

Of course my favorite part of the day was just seeing Jenna so happy and excited about her wedding and marriage to Andrew (in only 19 days!).

Jenna will be such a caring and thoughtful wife. I'm so happy she gets to start her new home with so many great gifts!

Check back in tomorrow for shower number two!
