a nautical bridal shower

As if the last two weekends were not eventful enough (puppy then moving) this past weekend got even more exciting with Jenna's bridal showers on Saturday and Sunday! In honor of her Maine honeymoon, I thought it would be fun for the bridesmaids to host a nautical themed shower (not that I'm obsessed with nautical themes or anything...).

Snippet & Ink always has incredible inspiration boards based on color, mood, location and theme. I thought this Seaside board was especially impressive:

Jenna's maid of honor, Brittany, made these precious invitations:

Here are a few more sweet sea-themed invitation ideas:

I've always felt that love is in the details and hopefully Jenna will feel extremely loved by all the details we tried to incorporate into her shower!

Isn't this boat table and lawn seating so charming?

And lastly, who's to say a theme shouldn't go all the way to your toes (or fingers for that matter)?

For even more sea-side inspiration you can check out this nautical getaway or sail away into love. And come back tomorrow for pictures from Jenna's bridal shower!

the baby shower

As promised, I wanted to share some images from the baby shower! Amelia did a fantastic job with the food- we had (1) a crudites tray with carrots, celery and sweet potato chips paired with a tasty yogurt dill dip, (2) tasty meatballs from Trader Joe's with a homemade Aioli sauce, (3) pear, kiwi & watermelon fruit kabobs, and (4) brie & goat cheese with fig spread, grapes & crackers.

Instead of a game, we had guests create their own onesies for baby Lucy. I originally saw the idea on The Sweetest Occasion.

Shannen is such a cute mom-to-be.

A few other details from the day...

And to round it all up, Amelia put on a little fashion shoot with her onesie!

We are so excited for the Malutinok family (who are also Normaltown-ers!) and can't wait for baby Lucy to get here!!

Thanks for being such a wonderful friend, Shannen!

over the weekend

Love the bunting! And I'm sure it's easy to make with a bee stencil & some black spray paint. Saw it on The Sweetest Occassion via Style Me Pretty.
Yikes is it already Tuesday? This thing just got started and I'm behind on posts. Over the weekend I went to see my parents, watched UGA clinch a sweet victory over those "gatahs" and worked on a fun little project...baby shower invitations :) My good friend Shannen is having a little girl in a bout a month and I'm co-hosting a shower for her in a couple weeks. The theme is "honeybee" so I've been bouncing around the web trying to find some decor inspiration for the soiree...

Homemade honey favors. Again from here via here.

Simple flowers with a touch of fall. From Pinterest via you guessed it- here.

Pom poms are a must- perhaps as a garland over the fire place.
Photo from Martha Stewart.
We probably won't have a "game" but I love the idea of teaming up to design a one-zie with iron-ons like this (but girly of course):

And maybe some bee quotes here and there like:

"If I was a flower growing wild & free
All I'd want is you to be my sweet honey bee"
-Barry Louis Polisar, All I Want Is You

I'll post a picture of the invitation later, but for an idea- the look came from here. Have a fancy Tuesday!
