Waiting

In moments where the unplanned or unexpected happens there are two choices - to give up or to keep going. My heart feels heavy in light of some recent life events and my initial response is to get angry. Thankfully, last night while I was trying to regain focus and understanding, God led me to Psalm 27:

"The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life- of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident. One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock...I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."

Because of God's love I won't give up - especially on other people - but I will wait on God, trust in Him and be confident in his will.

four years

On this day four years ago Taylor asked me to be his girlfriend. These past four years have been the most wonderful adventure and I can't even imagine where we will be four years from now!

I love you Taylor, forever & always.

A few years ago I thought Valentine's Day was pointless. This conviction was so deep that Taylor and I actually had one of our first fights over the matter. "Why celebrate love the same day everyone else does when I already enjoy doing that every day? Why give in to the commercialized holiday-in-the-name-of-love so the rich can get richer and the poor poorer?" [Can you tell I was passionate?] Now that we've been together a little longer, I will gladly take any excuse to get dolled up for a date with my best friend (even if everyone else is :)

Luckily I'm married to a man who is not very picky about gifts, but loves a heart-felt card. On Monday night we're going to the 5th Annual Sweethearts Duet Hoot presented by the Athens Folk Music & Dance Society at The Melting Point. We've gone the past two years and always have a great time.

My DIY project for the weekend is to spruce up some old cans with paint and pink hearts in case I get any flowers on Tuesday...
